About This Quote

The poet, Ezra Pound, said that English has “no rhymes” because it lacks rhyme. He says that the lack of rhymes is what has made English poetry unique. Pound said that if English had rhyme, it could be like French or Italian poetry which have quite a few rhyming words. However, he also said that rhyming words can make up for the lack of rhymes in English, because it is easy to find rhyming words in English than it is in other languages.
